Vivid Sydney is an 18 day festival of light, music and ideas bringing Australia's Emerald City to life as winter approaches. This year Vivid began on 22 May and finishes on 8 June.
Just for once, I'll let my camera do the talking.
If you are in Sydney during the festival, don't miss Customs House, adjacent to Circular Quay. It is magical.
What a great way to welcome in winter. Do you have a winter festival where you live?
I've hadn't heard of this festival before but it looks absolutely amazing! Great photos too! I think I'll need to visit Sydney around this time next year...
I really want to get to Sydney one year for this celebration. I had thought it was just the Opera House that was lit up before looking at your photos. So colorful. Vivid is the perfect name.
Vivid Sydney lights up in such an innovative and vivid way! I really enjoyed your night photography. It's not easy to take such spectacular shots. Love the butterfly effect on the Opera the best!
Honestly, I am not a good photographer but I have just bought a new travel camera. It is basically a point and shoot with a decent zoom, It has a setting for taking night photos and I'm pretty pleased with the results - although of course there were a few shockers which never made it to the blog - lol.
Beautiful pics! I'll have to get the kids to Customs House (We're at Iota this week, so we'll see it!). We've done the casino, uni and central park, because it was easy solo with the kids...I love Vivid!
Great photos. Vivid Sydney looks fantastic. I think Sydney is a beautiful city to visit and photograph at any time, but it must be truly amazing during this festival.
I feel like a dolt because I never heard of this light show before but now that you brought it to my attention I would love to see it! Sydney's such a wonderful city and this would only make it more so!
It just looks fabulous. I have been following everyones photos on Instagram and wish I was closer. Thanks for joining in #wednesdaywanderlust this week!
Great pictures! I really cannot wait to get to Sydney on the WHV. Everyone I know who has been there loves it.
ReplyDeleteIt is just great. Don't miss Customs House.

ReplyDeleteSydney's is fantastic. I can recommend it.
DeleteWe were in Sydney last year for Vivid and really wanted to see if we could do a sneaky trip to see it again this year. Thanks for taking us there.

ReplyDeleteVivid has been going for quite a few years now and has been getting better and better each year.
DeleteI have been seeing this on the news and wishing we lived nearby, it certainly looks like it is worth rugging up and bracing the cold weather.
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky. It was a really warm night when we went.

DeleteIf I ever get to go back to Sydney it would definitely be during this festival!
ReplyDeleteIt is just magical although it can be a bit chilly at this time of year.
DeleteI live in Canada - my idea of 'chilly' will be a bit different than yours!!
DeleteHaha. We are headed to Canada in a few weeks. I was hoping it might be warm.
DeleteWow - such vivid and vibrant colors!

ReplyDeleteIt is fantastic. I don't like going out much at night and definitely not in winter but Vivid Sydney is worth the effort.

ReplyDeleteFantastic Vivid shots.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThis is absolutely incredible!! I've never seen any pictures of this festival - and your shots are vivid and crystal clear!! Gorgeous!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteIt can be a bit chilly, but if the sun is out during the day it is lovely.
